System Requirements

Up

Melbourne on CD, Sydney on CD, Central Coast on CD

The minimum requirements for running Directories on CD are:

Operating System:
Windows 95 / 98 / ME / 2000 / NT / XP/VISTA

Hardware:
486 Processor
CD Drive
50 MByte spare hard disk space
16 MByte RAM
High Colour (16 bit) Display (very important)

We would recommend a Pentium with 32 MByte of RAM or better.

The reality is that Directories on CD can be run on almost any machine capable of running Windows without dying, but the performance when panning across maps can be very slow on an under configured system.

Memory size is a key - those map images chew up a lot of space and using disk for virtual memory slows Windows right down.

In the immortal words of Seymour Cray on the topic, "memory . . . . it's a lot better if you don't have to fake it."
